What's New?

Playhouse in the Park brings "drama" to Midway

Cincinnati's own professional theatre, Playhouse in the Park, has partnered with Midway school in order to bring drama and the theatrical arts to the students of Midway.  This collaboration has allowed students in grades 2, 3, 5 and 6 to have direct instruction through active, engaging and fun activities that teach fundamental skills in character portrayal and performance.  They have been encouraged to "take risks" in order to make the story more interesting.  These students recently completed their time with the master teachers from Playhouse, but the program is not over.  In fact, they will now be offering similar classes to the remaining students in grades 4, 1 and kindergarten!

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park has also made theatrical performance accessible to the students through the stories of Robin Hood and A Christmas Carol.  They will soon be bringing Around the World in 80 Days to the students in grades 3-6 and will also be working after school with the students who were casted in the upcoming musical Shrek Jr.  The skills and help from the Playhouse master teachers will also be enhanced by a financial donation from the Thomas J. Rebold Foundation which will help to defray the cost of costumes and scenery.  Be sure and see the fruits of their labor in May as they perform this amazingly entertaining twist of a fairy tale!
